Welcome to the
Peasedown St John
Methodist Church Website

We extend the love of Jesus Christ to you!

We are pleased to be open for Sunday services again and welcome you to join us in worship whenever you are able to - We’d love to see you!

Sunday services continue to be broadcast live
via the Church Facebook page and
made available later each Sunday on the Church You Tube Channel.

We are also running “The Harbour”, including a creche every Sunday. The Harbour is our Sunday morning children's ministry,
as it's a place of safety and fits in with the church's boat logo
and our weeknight group named "Lighthouse".

Our goal as a church is to love as Christ loved and to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ through its variety of worship services, through spiritual development, outreach and mission.

Throughout the recent time of lockdown we have continued to worship and join in fellowship together in a variety of ways and it has been great to share in fellowship with many people who do not usually attend Peasedown St John Methodist Church.

So no matter where you live and no matter what your beliefs are, if you are looking for some support or encouragement during these difficult times, or if you are looking for some understanding of what's happening to us and the world, or if you simply want to connect with other people, you are very welcome here!

Having considered the Government’s ‘roadmap’ to ease Covid restrictions, it has been decided that the Church building will remain closed for services, meetings, etc until mid-April at the earliest. The situation will be kept under review. At least everything is progressing now so it seems that it won’t be much longer until we can all meet and worship together – what a great day that will be!

Sunday Services continue to be broadcast live via the Church Facebook page and made available later each Sunday on the Church You Tube Channel. Alternatively copies of the service are available on DVD or CD.

18th March 2020

Dear Friends,

The church is not closed!

I’m sure that some of you might be thinking that I am contradicting all the other information you have received, but I’m not. Due to the Coronavirus we have closed the church building for all users, including Sunday worship services. But the building is not the church - you are the church, I am the church, we are the church together. We might be isolated, but we are not closed.

The church is open for business!

During this time of social distancing we have the opportunity to come closer to God, so I encourage you to read you Bible more, pray more, sing hymns and songs of praise. In times like these it’s easy to become fearful or anxious, to allow the darkness to creep in on us and so it’s vital that we draw nearer to God.

Here are some passages of scripture to encourage us and give us hope:

2 Timothy 1:7
Psalm 4:8
1 Peter 5:6-7
Philippians 4:6-7
Isaiah 41:10
Isaiah 26:3
John 14:1

And a song that seems made for the moment:

I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies
I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief
I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody
I raise a hallelujah, heaven comes to fight for me

[Chorus]
I'm gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive

The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face to shine upon you, the Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon you and give you his peace.
