Welcome to the
Peasedown St John
Methodist Church Website

18th March 2020

Dear Friends,

The church is not closed!

I’m sure that some of you might be thinking that I am contradicting all the other information you have received, but I’m not. Due to the Coronavirus we have closed the church building for all users, including Sunday worship services. But the building is not the church - you are the church, I am the church, we are the church together. We might be isolated, but we are not closed.

The church is open for business!

During this time of social distancing we have the opportunity to come closer to God, so I encourage you to read you Bible more, pray more, sing hymns and songs of praise. In times like these it’s easy to become fearful or anxious, to allow the darkness to creep in on us and so it’s vital that we draw nearer to God.

Here are some passages of scripture to encourage us and give us hope:

2 Timothy 1:7
Psalm 4:8
1 Peter 5:6-7
Philippians 4:6-7
Isaiah 41:10
Isaiah 26:3
John 14:1

And a song that seems made for the moment:

I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies
I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief
I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody
I raise a hallelujah, heaven comes to fight for me

[Chorus]
I'm gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive

The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face to shine upon you, the Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon you and give you his peace.
